2 Point Loma-Area Businesses Burglarized
SAN DIEGO — San Diego police were searching on Saturday for a suspect in two commercial burglaries in the Roseville area, according to a police sergeant. According to police, a man broke into the Brown Bag Deli at 1900 Rosecrans St. about 7:35 am, Friday, stole some cash from the register and tried to break into an ATM at the store. The unidentified man then broke a 4-foot hole in the wall and entered the Anglers Choice Tackle Shop next door, where he stole a number of expensive fishing reels, said San Diego police Sgt. Increasing numbers of businesses are losing confidence in the economy. Even though the country avoided a double-dip recession last week, the results of a Horizon Poll out today show a majority of business people believe the economy will decline further this year. More than half of business proprietors, managers and executives think things will get worse for the economy, and in what could be bad news for the government, those who most expect economic decline voted National and Act in 2008. Ashland rescuers learn first aid for family pets, Fire engines equipped with …
ASHLAND Ashland firefighters and paramedics are now equipped to give first aid to furry, feathered and scaly members of households family pets. Thanks to a donation from Project Breathe, Ashland Fire Rescue carries oxygen masks for pets on all five of its engines. Last week, firefighters received training on how to use the masks and do cardiopulmonary resuscitation on dogs, cats, ferrets, gerbils and even reptiles that have inhaled smoke. The purpose is to rescue pets that have been involved in fire so we can help the whole family, said Division Chief Greg Case, who is spearheading the project. The smaller animals, such as pet birds and lizards, should be placed entirely inside the oxygen mask, said veterinarian Alice Sievers, who led the training. Clad in multicolored spacesuits, US Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and husband Mark Kelly float among the stars above their pink and purple polka dot space shuttle, at least, in the imagination of a second-grader. The image is just one among a dozen Starbucks coffee cups decorated with artwork of flowers, butterflies, astronauts and shuttles awaiting their chance to bring some color to the wounded congresswomans day. Its sad that Mrs. Gabby is so sick, but our cups make her happy and brighten her day a little bit, second-grader Brianna Galind, 7, said while drawing Giffords floating in a purple sky on a Starbucks cup. Flooding damages Capitola businesses, mobile homes
CAPITOLA, Calif.Businesses in Capitola were damaged and a mobile home park evacuated when a drainage pipe failed and sent 3 feet of water rushing through town. Officials ordered residents in the 42-unit Pacific Cove Mobile Home Park to evacuate Thursday afternoon, as surging water tore apart the ground beneath several homes and cascaded into Capitola Village. Several businesses and Capitolas police and fire departments also suffered damage. Capitola Public Works Director Steve Jesberg told the Santa Cruz Sentinel theres about $500,000 worth of damage to city property and several million dollars worth of damage to the city-owned mobile home park. March 26, 2011 – GRAFTON, Mass. – Its not everyday at that a pair of Chinese dragons dance through the Grafton Municipal Center. But the Grafton Fine Arts and Music Festival, of course, is not everyday — its only everyday this weekend as local artists are featured alongside musical performances and interactive workshops to celebrate the towns creative side. On Saturday, the featured artists varied from a traditional dance performed by members of the Chaubunagungamaug clan of the Nipmuc tribe to the Celtic bagpipers and flutes of Triple Spiral to a colorful Chinese dragon dance performed by the Southeast Asian Coalition.
