Who hasnt sat in a classroom with their notebook open, doodling away with a pen, dreaming they could one day sell those drawings as art? Comic book artist Jim Rugg has gone ahead and made that dream a reality. The artist behind indie titles Street Angel and Afrodisiac has an upcoming art show in Los Angeles featuring nothing but ballpoint drawings on spiral notebook paper. However, from that image above, you can tell these arent your typical notebook doodles. Theyre beautiful pieces of one-of-a-kind art, many of which are pop culture themed.
After the jump, were proud to exclusively reveal several movie related pieces from Notebook Nerd, which open May 25 at iAm8Bit. There are pieces from Drive, Total Recall, Pulp Fiction, Bad Lieutenant, Friday the 13th, Sexy Beast and others. Check them out.

Precious metal gold and silver Price Trend Market Review Today:
Stock index trends have fallen lower in the current market climate and precious metal gold and silver prices are falling in conjunction.
The dollar held relative strength versus the euro during the last full trading session and precious metals gold and silver prices finished the day on the negative side of break-even once again. Gold contract price fell lower through the course of the last trading session by .25 percent and closed in the red at 1557.10 per troy ounce. Silver contract fell lower through the course of the last trading session by .96 percent and closed lower at 28.08 per troy ounce. Gold and silver have been pressured for weeks as investors observe the relative strength of the dollar and look to get back into cash. The safe haven appeal of precious metals has diminished with the dollars strength and the notion that inflation is not currently on the radar screen of primary concerns. As todays trading session reached the halfway point, precious metal gold and silver price trends were dropping off again.

Todays Gold price per ounce Silver price per ounce Mid-Day Price trend review:Both gold and silver contract prices were posting red at mid-day today. Gold contract for June delivery was lower by .97 percent at a posted electronic price of 1542 per troy ounce. July contract silver price had fallen lower by 1.82 percent and posted an electronic price at 27.57 per troy ounce as of the halfway point in the trading session.

Todays Spot gold price per gram and Spot silver price per ounce Mid-Day Price Trend Review:
Mid-Day price trends for spot gold and spot silver were posting red. Spot gold per gram was lower at 49.71 as of the mid-day mark and spot silver per ounce posted at 27.69 as of mid-day today.

Residents in Whymark Avenue, near Turnpike Lane, woke up to discover the trademark artwork painted on the side of the local Poundland.
The store has been at the centre of controversy after it was revealed two years ago that a seven-year-old boy worked more 100 hours a week in an Indian sweatshop to produce some of its goods.
The company severed ties with the supplier and issued a statement saying it “did not tolerate child labour under any circumstances”.
The latest Banksy image depicts a young boy crouched over a sewing machine. The Jubilee-themed artwork has Union flag bunting similar to that sold in the store hung across the image.

Banksy, who has amassed a fortune selling his work at auction, appeared to have secretly painted the wall in the early hours of yesterday morning with the help of two collaborators.

Holly-Jade Leathers, 14, who lives on the road, said: “I came down here at about four in the morning and there were three guys who looked homeless with their backs to the wall.

“They must have been painting it on the wall somehow because I came back past at six o’clock and it was there in the exact same spot.”

Excited locals gathered round to take photos of the artwork, which could be worth thousands of pounds.

Saqib Khalid, 16, who lives nearby, said: “It’s inspiring to see graffiti on the streets of London which is actually good art and not vandalism.”

James Longshaw, 42, who works in new media, said: “It’s a work of art, so of course I enjoy it. It will probably put house prices up in the area – that’s what has happened in areas where he has been before.

“I don’t see why anyone should object, all it means is the area has arrived. He isn’t attacking the area, he is attacking businesses in the area which exploit people in sweatshops.

“Banksy is promoting an issue by painting this but I don’t think a lot of people will know what it means – they might think it is just any graffiti.”

In the past, graffiti by the elusive artist has caused house prices to skyrocket. In 2008, a Portobello Road wall adorned with his name fetched £200,000 on eBay.

His work is known for its strident anti-establishment message, which has done nothing to damage his popularity among celebrities and the super-rich – his 2010 film Exit Through The Gift Shop was nominated for an Oscar.

Banksy’s famous work includes a vandalised phone box crumpled in half with a pickaxe in its side.

He once climbed into the penguin enclosure at London Zoo and painted “We’re bored of fish” in seven feet high letters.

At the 2004 Notting Hill Carnival, the prankster handed out spoof British £10 notes substituting the picture of the Queen’s head with Diana, Princess of Wales head and changing the text “Bank of England” to “Banksy of England.”

The hotel hosted a contest to find local artists who could create works for the hotel’s interior, and winners were given cash prices from $150 to $2,000. More than 150 artists submitted more than 400 pieces of artwork. The winning pieces – 150 in all – will be displayed in the hotel guest rooms, corridors, and lobby.
Striving for an emphasis on artwork reflective of the south side neighborhood’s soul, President and CEO of NYLO Hotels Mike Mueller said he feels they have accomplished that goal.

The event allowed the programs counseling participants, most of whom are between ages 5 and 12, to display the artwork they created individually and with their families during the past several months.
CFOP individual and group counseling participants, who have experienced some sort of domestic violence or child abuse, created the art. CFOP strives to provide a safe place for children to express the abuse theyve been through and increase their self-esteem.

CFOP individual and group counseling participants, who have experienced some sort of domestic violence or child abuse, created the art. CFOP strives to provide a safe place for children to express the abuse theyve been through and increase their self-esteem.

The art show included several types of creations, including body safety capes. The idea of creating the capes was to provide children with a means of seeing themselves as the bosses of their bodies.

Creating angry monster drawings allowed children to safely express the anger they felt as a result of their experiences through art.

The children and their families created family trees, allowing those who have experienced domestic violence or abuse to rebuild a sense of connection by telling their stories through art. The trees serve as a visual representation of what the family experienced in the past, how the family as a whole has grown into the present and how it hopes to continue to positively progress into the future.

Children also created SAFE houses, which they created with the acronym for stay out of the fight, avoid getting trapped, find a phone and escape to a safe place in mind.

CFOP works with children and families to make safety plans and boxes. Recently, an area child used a safety box during a domestic incident to reach safety, Melissa Dorchak, CFOP coordinator, said. The boxes contain phone numbers, stress relievers, paper, pencils and safety plans.

CFOP is part of The Salvation Army Anew Center, which provides services to victims of domestic violence, rape and sexual assault. CFOP encompasses three counseling services: group counseling for children; in-home family services; and individual counseling for children, adolescents and their families. The programs services extend throughout Chautauqua County.

We work closely with the Department of Social Services, Child Protective Services and schools – counselors in schools, school social workers who work with families, Dorchak said. We get a lot of referrals that way, but also if a parent is realizing that (their child needs) support like this in their life, they can call our number as well and do a self-referral.

For more information on CFOP, call 661-3398.

A 7-year-old making money may sound a little extreme. However the surveys require that a parent or guardian register their child.

Kimberly Campbell tells us she must fill out some demographic information beforehand. When it comes to her 7-year-old daughter, Kayleigh, its been a good experience. Campbell said Kayleigh enjoys filling out the surveys and shes earning her family points.

Kayleigh told News 2 that she likes to offer her opinion and earn points towards a gas card so her family can take their vacation. Her mom thinks its an early lesson in earning money.

One popular website is Kidzeyes.com. Its dedicated strictly to kids surveys. The other one is Teenseyes.com for teenagers. The owner of the company told News 2s Liz Crawford that they have more than 40,000 kids and teens registered on their websites to take surveys. They offer rewards for every survey the kids participate in, some redeemable for cash. The owner says they always make sure parents are copied on every communication they send to their children.

Kimberly Campbell said that shes made a couple hundred dollars since she and her daughter started participating in surveys on various websites on top of gas and giftcards.

Campbell suggestedSurveypolice.com which lists the top surveys that pay the most and have the best customer service. Her favorite ismypoints.com which can combine points for other online shopping habits.
